The different personalization techniques: screen printing, digital printing and embroidery
Need a personalized outfit that reflects your image but you don't know which branding method will enhance your logo ?
Embroidery, digital printing and screen printing are the main textile marking techniques available on the market.
Not sure which method to choose?
Embroidery, screen printing or digital printing?
Overview of the characteristics and respective advantages of these different personalization techniques 🎨
Screen printing
Screen printing is the most widely used technique for textile printing . What are the reasons for its success?
Screen printing is the oldest form of printing that allows for high-quality results. It's a direct printing method: the ink is applied directly to the fabric through a stencil. Each color in the design has its own stencil to create the final visual on the product.
This customization technique is reserved for large quantities due to high layer costs.
At Atelier TB, we offer screen printing for orders of 20 or more. The larger your order, the lower the unit cost.

What you need to know about the advantages of screen printing:
- ⚡ A versatile printing method: you can print on all types of textiles, whether they are made of natural fibers, polyester, cotton or synthetics.
- ⚡ Guarantees a clean result and excellent hold of your logo, design or text with good resistance to washing.
- ⚡ A wide choice in terms of colors and customization possibilities for a rendering that faithfully respects your colors.
- ⚡ A very affordable overall cost on large quantities.
Digital printing
Digital printing is a method that involves printing a design (a logo, image, or photo) directly onto fabric. Ink jets are projected onto the fabric, directly penetrating the fibers of the garment, creating the design on the fabric.
This technique is mainly used when there are several details and colors and allows you to have a result faithful to your visual.
Digital printing allows for intricate details and gradients with an unlimited color range, unlike screen printing. Furthermore, this technique is best suited for small quantities.

Embroidery
Embroidery is the highest quality branding technique, both in terms of aesthetics and durability. It requires a complete process of stitching your design onto the textile.
Embroidery has existed for centuries with different techniques: traditional embroidery, we simply embroider with a thread and a needle, machine embroidery or ribbon embroidery.
Our workshop has 2 embroidery machines capable of reproducing your logo as faithfully as possible.
How does embroidery work?
The industrial version of the embroidery machine has become much more accessible, allowing everyone to enjoy the art of embroidery. Traditional embroidery is still widely used in the luxury sector, for example, which requires meticulousness and rigor.
Both of our embroidery machines are equipped with 6 needles that allow you to embroider up to 6 thread colors simultaneously.
What is the role of our seamstresses in embroidery?
Our embroidery machine is certainly a machine, but human control is still necessary. Indeed, the design you send us cannot be read and interpreted by our machine. It requires digital conversion into a very specific format.
Your logo is then converted into DST or EMB formats, indicating the size, needle colors, and location. The time we spend converting the logo depends on its complexity. We see the visual on the machine screen, we check that it is the right product to be embroidered, the needle placement, the threads correctly threaded in the machine with the right color. Then we let the magic happen.

This method of personalization is a craftsmanship that provides high-end marking and a quality visual rendering.
Our workshop in the Vosges has embroidery machines to make your pieces unique. You can personalize our aprons , our chef jackets and tote bags with an embroidery of your logo or a text (or both).
What you need to know about the advantages of embroidery:
- ⚡ Impeccable quality with an ultra-premium finish thanks to its relief and its bright, long-lasting colors.
- ⚡ Unparalleled durability. Even after several washes, your embroidery will not move a single thread.

Verdict: embroidery or screen printing?
The difference is notable between these two techniques.
Budget aside, the choice between these two marking techniques must above all be considered according to the level of detail of your logo.
If your logo is minimalist and modern, embroidery is an excellent choice. It will enhance your logo by giving it a unique relief effect and vibrant colors.
If, on the other hand, your logo is very detailed, with fine and elaborate visual elements or shadow effects, screen printing will be essential for better reproduction of these details.
